Scientists Say Your Brain Is Smarter If You Have A Dozy Memory

There’s a reason why the brain is the least explored part of our body. The brain is complicated, unpredictable and probably the most important organ of the human body. And there’s a little bit of irony involved when it comes to research related to the brain.

Have you ever taught about the fact that we actually use our brain to explore our brain? How crazy is that?

And check this out; in order to be able to conduct a study related to the brain, you need to be smart. Which means you’ll have a bit more complex brain compared to the ordinary. Which also means that it will be a tough task to handle.

Since you’re a genius, and you’re trying to understand what makes you a genius at first place.

However, all jokes aside, scientists at the University of Toronto in Canada have released a study that sounds illogical.

The study claims that if you have poor short-term memory you’re actually smarter than you think. So what’s the catch behind this?

Well, as it turns out your brain is trying to create space for new information rather than focusing on retaining irrelevancies.

“We always idealize the person who can smash a trivia game, but the point of memory is not being able to remember who won the Stanley Cup in 1972,” said Professor Blake Richards.

“If you’re trying to navigate the world and your brain is constantly bringing up multiple conflicting memories, that makes it harder for you to make an informed decision.”

“The point of memory is to make you an intelligent person who can make decisions given the circumstances, and an important aspect in helping you do that is being able to forget some information.”

Richards and his colleague Paul Frankland didn’t start from scratch. They used existing papers to gather the evidence that proves how forgetting is actually beneficial for us.

For example, if your brain is focused on information that you don’t need –old passwords, it has difficulties to remember a new one.
