He Saved A Child From Kidnapper…And He Was Fired For “Doing The Wrong Thing”

We’re not all millionaires, billionaires, celebrities, actors, singers and what not. Some of us don’t have fancy jobs. Actually, a lot of us don’t have fancy jobs. We’re stuck with “ordinary” stuff like being a Doctor, or a policeman or a firefighter.

The problem with not having a fancy job is that you can be fired for doing the right thing. That’s the case right here. This guy was fired for saving a child for kidnapper. He worked at Home Depot, and got fired for violating company policy.

But before we move forward with the story, let’s talk about Richard Branson catching his employee sleeping at work.

What do you think happened afterwards? Was this guy fired for sleeping during work?

“I popped into the office and the airport to say hello and check in to see what the team are up to,” Branson wrote on his company’s blog.

This guy wasn’t fired, because Branson is an amazing CEO and a person. He appreciates the people he works with, and that’s exactly why he’s successful.

“This guy wasn’t up to much at all – I caught him sleeping on the job!”

“Wow, did he get a shock when I woke him up. He must have thought he was dreaming because he went straight back to sleep”

“To be fair, he was on standby, getting some much needed rest,” Branson wrote.

Branson understood that his employee was on standby and he was only getting some much needed rest. However, he wasn’t spared by the internet trolls.

Now lets get back to 32-year-old Dillon Reagan from Portland, Oregon. The reason why he was fired is because “he broke the rules.”

This sounds fine, until you realize that breaking the rules means stopping a child from getting kidnapped!

“At the time, the only thing I was thinking about was the child’s safety,” said 32-year-old Dillon Reagan.

He worked at the Mall 205 store for four years before getting fired.

“I stepped outside and sure enough, there’s this lady who’s frantic and crying, ‘Somebody help me please! He’s stealing my kid, he’s kidnapping my child!’”

He and his colleague called the cops and they were advised to follow the man on foot until the police arrived. They returned to the store after giving their statements. They were 10 minutes late, but Reagan never taught that he would be fired for his heroic act.

They fired him a month later, but because his Twitter post went viral they’ve changed their mind. He isn’t sure if he wants to reclaim his job, since he was treated unfairly.
