In the recent years, drones have greatly transformed the industry of photography. Very much so that several awards, devoted precisely to aerial photography have transpired. Amongst them and likely the most distinguished is the Dronestagram, and it has recently declared the winners of its fourth International Drone Photography Contest held annually.
Drones are beginning to be a progressively attainable method to obtain a new point of view on the world, says Eric Dupin, Dronestagram’s CEO. There are precisely no concrete limitations as to where a snapshot can happen anymore.
Submissions were decided based on creativity and photo quality by a board of experts, incorporating some from the competition’s partner: National Geographic. Here are some of the best aerial photography for 2017, chosen from thousands of submission from different countries.
1st Place: Summer Trim by Jerome Courtial of France (Nature)
Location: Lavender Field in Provence, France
It was the beginning of the harvest season so the photographer went to find tractors and waited patiently for them to start harvesting.
2nd Place: Infinite Road To Transylvania by Calin Stan from Romania (Nature)
Location: Cheia DN1A to Transylvania, Romania
As the legend goes, this is the sight that Count Dracula saw during his nocturnal flying.
3rd Place: Ice Formation by Florian Ledoux of Greenland (Nature)
Location: East Greenland seas
A sea ice formation was the subject of the photographer’s photo.
1st Place: End of the Line by Martin Sanchez from the United States (People)
Location: Tennis shoes in New Jersey
Sanchez says he found the empty tennis court standing out like a “treasured story in a book of empty words.”
2nd Place: Waterlily by “helios1412” from Vietnam
Location: Pond in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam
Dronestagram could not give more information about the photo but it’s a woman harvesting water lilies.
3rd Place: La Vijanera by Javier Bustamante of Spain
Location: Silió in Cantabria, Spain
This was during the La Vijanera, a winter carnival. This group consists of hunters who captured a bear.
