6 Things Millennials Have Been Allegedly Ruining

Just recently, an article about Millennials ruining the restaurant industry has gone viral. The cause of death: Millennials are choosing fast food or making their own food.

Aside from the restaurant industry, there are several other things the generation have ‘ruined’. This article will talk about some of them. Some of you may not share the same opinion and some may intensely nod in agreement.

Market Surveys

Individuals ranging from 20 to 35 years old are too skeptical about divulging their goals, objectives and shopping habits directly to marketers. This causes many companies to forget the conventional marketing tactics such as focus groups and instead depend on native advertising or social media sourcing. It can also be a loss to millennials, as corporate giants collect a huge amount of personal information from them.

The 9 To 5 Workweek

Thanks for them nagging for flexibility in their jobs, almost 40 percent of employees in the US can work from at home last once a week. Millennials also do not unplug at 5 PM, with 68 percent saying they manager work emails at home. The expansion of our work lives into our homes may worry some workers who are more attached to the usual 40-hour workweek. However, studies suggest workers in a versatile workplace tend to be more prolific and happier with their jobs.

Dinner Dates

With the rise of mobile apps and websites such as Tinder and OkCupid, Millennials have basically abandoned the idea of having dinner dates. They are dating more casually and more frequently, turning the concept of sitting in front of one another in an expensive 5-star restaurant into a pile of trash. Nevertheless, some millennials do not believe they are missing out on anything. If you like the person, isn’t it better to watch Netflix with him/her rather than waste money on a pricey dinner?

Napkins

“Who the hell still uses paper napkins?,” this is the statement you would frequently hear from Millennials as 86 percent of them are now choosing paper towels as napkins at the dinner table. It may seem bad but experts say its capacity to clean food mess make it a more clever and economical choice, mainly as the number of millennials eating dinner at home is decreasing.

Running

According to The Wall Street Journal, Millennials have officially ruined the sport of running, ven though the generation has the most share of runners, Individuals between 18-34 made up only 33 percent runners in 2015 from 35 percent in 2014. This decline came even after the peak in 2013, where there were 19 million runners. Instead of anticipating it to increase, it has surprisingly declined.

Marriage

Millenials are tying the knot less frequently and later in their lives. With a larger amount of debt to pay, they are usually still living with their parents or with other people. They are also postponing marriage until they find themselves financially stead, which can take many years for them. Do not blame the millennials, though. You should blame the $1.3 Trillion worth of student debts that American college graduates are now carrying on their shoulders.
