Do you want proof that we exist in a world of ‘post-truth’ and alternative facts? Just look at the amount of YouTube channels and websites devoted to proving that the Earth is flat.
Then feel your jaw slowly dropping and your eyes popping as you become aware how many people believe in this stuff.
Nathan Thompson, a well-known online Flat Earther and founder of the Official Flat Earth and Global Discussion, confronted a NASA employee inside a Starbucks in a strange viral video.
For the uninformed, Flat Earthers claim that National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA is a huge conspiracy, committed to hoaxing us ‘sheeple’ that the Earth is spherical.
Thompson, whose Facebook page has more than 36,000 members, seemed to be perplexed by how we could drown in space and demanded answers from the unidentified NASA employee.
The Flat-Earther seems to be talking about the event when the space helmet of Italian ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano was filled with water during a spacewalk, caused by a blocked water filter. It started to cover his nose, becoming difficult for the astronaut to breathe. Thomson appears to believe it is some type of evidence that this independent government agency is indeed deceiving people.
For many Flat Earthers, this is really it—a concrete evidence that we are not on a globe, but on some type of pancake traveling in space.
He then attempts to get the scientist’s attention, while he innocently tries to purchase a coffee. When the scientist does not answer, Thompson presumes this is because he is asking awkward questions that the space agency would not want to respond.
Thomson then went to confront him, pushing into the line to ask him questions. When the scientist politely refused to answer, saying Thompson should have a nice day, Thompson continued to ask him, but with more aggressive questions.
When Thompson would not asking him questions, A Starbucks employee intervened and calmly asked the Flat-Earther to leave the coffee shop.
Thompson left and then continued complaining outside to the camera.

Flat Earth conspirators seem to be rising on the web recently, with organizations suddenly appearing all over the Internet. Just a week before this viral video, a conspiracy theorist and a Youtuber brought a level onto an airplane to “demonstrate” that the Earth is really flat once and for all.
His video has not ended well on YouTube, with thousands of people giving it thumbs down and just a hundred people liking it. The conclusion appears to be that he should not have talked to the man who is just trying to have a nice cup of coffee, and also the Earth is certainly not flat.
The Flat-Earther has since published an update on his Starbucks confrontation to his FB group, in which he is clothed in a wig with a unicorn horn fastened to his head and insists that the NASA scientist was a deceiver.
The video has long since been deleted, probably due to the sheer amount of dislikes it got.
