“Despacito” is a number one hit song nowadays. Even thought the name of the song translates in English to slowly, this song has hit the charts with the speed of a light. We can bet that there’s no person who haven’t heard this song. So, what’s the story behind the new age “Macarena”?

Luis Fonsi, the singer of “Despacito”, once not that known aspiring artist from Puerto Rico who grew up in Miami, now is taking the world by storm. Fonsi wrote this song two years ago but didn’t feature it in his albums. However, he knew there was something about this song. Well, he was right. With more than 2 billion views on Youtube and still counting, this catchy song is played all around the globe. It is the perfect song for night clubs, beach parties or get-togethers at home.

It is a real achievement to have a number one hit song on the charts. Luis Fonsi had a number one hit on the Latin Billboard Charts, but his song being on the Billboard 100 after only two Spanish songs managed to get there (“La Bamba” and “Macarena”) is really something to be proud of.

Since the first time it was released, “Despacito” is still stuck in people heads till now. Many celebrities (like Justin Bieber) are teaming up and making remixes of this song. The funny thing is that anybody not Puerto-Rican doesn’t have a clue what this song is about and can’t get the lyrics right-however everybody sings it.

We are used to hearing different versions of “Despacito” but these covers sang on different languages are truly gold.
