Yes, they were responsible for one of the most legendary rap beef of all time. But thanks to their skills, people could defend rap on an intellectual level.
If you’re a true Tupac fan, you probably know that Tupac and Madonna dated for a while. Thanks to a letter written by Tupac Shakur while he was in prison, now we know why their relationship ended.
“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career. If anything, it would make you seem that much more open and exciting.”
“But for me – at least in my previous perception – I felt, due to my ‘image’, I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was,” Tupac wrote in the newly released letter.
Tupac and Madonna dated back in 1993, just 3 years before the rapper was shot.
“I’ve waited a long time to finally write this.”
“Mainly because I was struggling to find all the answers so that I wouldn’t leave any unanswered questions.
“First and foremost I must apologise to you because, like you said, I haven’t been the kind of friend I know I am capable of being.”
“In the time since, as you can see, I have grown both spiritually and mentally,” Tupac continues.
“It no longer matters how I’m perceived. Please understand my previous position as that of a young man with limited experience with an extremely famous sex symbol.”
Let’s stop for a second before we reveal the ending of the letter. Can you imagine a famous rapper from today’s world to talk to a woman like Tupac did? He never mentioned any vulgarities in his letter, and he behaved like a true gentlemen.
At the end, Tupac advises Madonna to ‘be careful’, writing: “Everyone is not as honourable as they seem. There are those whose hearts bleed with envy and evil. They would not hesitate to do you harm! Let my five bullets be proof of that.”
