BBC Reveals The 13th Doctor Who— And It’s A Woman!

BBC has officially announced Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor Who. Starting this December, she will take TARDIS from Peter Capaldi, when beloved Gallifrey-based Time Lord ultimately goes into his extremely late regeneration.

The English actress is the first woman to take the lead role in the series’s 54-year existence. Whittaker has already spent 3 seasons partnering with upcoming lead executive producer Chris Chibnall on his gloomy murder-mystery television show Broadchurch. It is also not the sole reason why Whittaker is the perfect person for the 13th Doctor Who.

An experienced film and television actress with the obsessed, unworldly appearance of a runaway Time Lord, the 35-year-old is no rookie to science fiction. You might have recalled seeing her from ‘The Entire History of You’ episode of the Black Mirror, or the Attack the Block alien invasion film with John Boyega.

The actress was an unexpected last-minute add-on to the lineup of names at the summit of betting lists. British bookmakers cut her chances from 25 to 1 to 6 to 4 last Saturday. It leveled her with male actor Kris Marshal who was most popularly tilted for the part.

Apparently, insiders from BBC had suddenly put an outbreak of bets.

Doctor Who’s current lead executive producer Steven Moffat, while not immediately included in the decision, has been prepping the ground for female Doctor Who.

There is no doubt the initial regeneration will be featured to convince change-fearing fans of the show that it will be just the same as before, traveling through time space, no matter what gender he or she is going to be.
