These Cities Have The Weirdest Names

The world is full of weirdness. Starting from weird people, weird nature, weird phenomenon, ending with bizarre names, there’s really a lot to be seen on our planet. Let’s see some of the cities that have unusual and weird names at the smallest hand.

WHY, Arizona, USA

After a 30 minute ride from the Mexican border, you will get to the city of WHY. It is a small city named on a crossroad between two highways, with 116 habitats. I just don’t see the sense why somebody would name a city WHY. The city is also forever questioning this decision.

Frankenstein, Poland

The city was founded after the Mongo invasion in 17th century and has a rich history. Because of the plague in the mid 18th century, the city was set on fire and then rebuilt again. Between the Second World War, the city crossed from German to Polish repression.

Middlefart, Denmark

This city was created in the 13th century and has a population of almost 15 000 peple. The iron foundry in this city is well known, which gives work to most of the people from this region. Initially, the name was a bit different – Maltefart derived from the Danish word “Meteo” which means average, and the other word means path.

Hell, Norway

The most bizarre thing about this town is that the temperatures reach up to -25 degrees. I guess ‘When hell freezes over’ now makes more sense. The etymology of the word, however, is from the Norwegian word for luck. I am lucky that I haven’t been to Hell.
